There are probably as many bad hosting companies out there as there are good ones and a whole bunch of mediocre or just okay ones in the middle.
Whilst it is a good idea to check out the reputation of your prospective hosting company and it is an important decision, it is probably not the most critical one you will make in your Internet Marketing career. Everyone you talk to will have their own opinion – including me! It is up to you to do a spot of research to satisfy yourself that you are making the right decision. My two key areas are Uptime and Support. Here then are my opinions and recommendations.
Bigger is not always better, especially when you need support. Avoid hosts like the silly grinning reptile and other big name cartoon identities if you want personal service. And who doesn’t? You will hopefully be with your host for a long time. Look at it this way, would you prefer to stay in a sterile look-alike Holiday Inn or Roadhouse or would you prefer to enjoy the personal service of a Boutique style hotel. For a long stay give me personal service any day.
d9 Solutions Ltd
d9 was started by two Internet Marketing business partners who were fed up with the poor service and lack of support offered by many of the hosting companies. That was back in 2007. They now host thousands of web sites for clients spread right around the world. Hosting created by Internet Marketer for Internet Marketers. It doesn’t come much better than that. When you check out the web site you will actually see real people! Uptime is a given or they wouldn’t have survived. Support is where they really score. Support tickets are answered within the hour 24/7 in English. I’ll say that again ‘in English!’ Check out there various packages by clicking the banner below.
If you want something just a little cheaper and it is only a little, Arvixe have earned a very solid reputation with a number or five star reviews. I have never experienced bad downtime. Since they’ve been bought by EIG support has slowed considerably and 90% of the time it is not handled by support staff who’s first language is English. When I see a name like ‘Noshid Boogaloo’ I know I’m going to get the standard cut and paste answers to my support request without them reading my question. I guess it’s all a part of EIG consolidating systems to cut costs. I find that frustrating. If you can live with that and want an alternative to the likes of Hostgator then they are good. d9 Solutions, without question. Yes, it is just a tad more expensive but you get what you pay for and I am prepared to pay for their support. Hosting at d9, I know that my questions will be read, answered and advice given – in English. When you’ve got a real problem or you don’t know how to do something, that’s priceless.
